Born and raised in Bellingham, Steve Brummel graduated from Sehome High School and attended Western Washington University earning his Bachelor's degree in business administration and later his Master's. He was also a star running back for Western Washington University where he in now in his 12th year as Associate Director of Athletics—and his 32nd year overall in the department. Steve oversees facilities and operations, as well as sport administration for Men’s and Women’s Golf, Cross Country, Track & Field, and Rowing. In addition to his athletics leadership, Steve is also an instructor in Western’s College of Business and Economics.

Served three-year term as men's golf representative on NCAA Division II West Regional Advisory Committee from 2014-2016
Member of Bellingham Bay Rotary Club, serving on Board of Directors from 2006-2008
Member of Bellingham Boys & Girls Club Advisory Board from 2007-2012
Assistant football coach for 3 seasons for Bellingham High School
Supporting numerous community organizations
In his off-time you'll find Steve spending time with his family, wife Jennifer and three children; sons Coleman and Carter, and daughter Addison.
