Jack Sikma
Seven-time All-Star
Seattle SuperSonics
Center, Naismith Hall
of Famer
Jack Sikma is a former NBA center and Hall of Famer best known for his standout career with the Seattle SuperSonics and Milwaukee Bucks. A seven-time NBA All-Star and key member of Seattle’s 1979 NBA Championship team, Sikma helped redefine the center position with his versatile offensive game, elite shooting touch, and signature reverse-pivot jumper.
Born on November 14, 1955, in Illinois, Sikma starred at Illinois Wesleyan University, where he earned NAIA All-American honors three times before being selected eighth overall in the 1977 NBA Draft by Seattle. Over his 14-year NBA career (1977–1991), he became one of the league’s most respected big men, averaging a double-double across eight seasons while recording more than 17,000 points and 10,000 rebounds.
Standing 6’11”, Sikma was considered one of basketball’s early “stretch bigs,” combining post play with exceptional free-throw shooting. In 1987–88, he became the only center in NBA history to lead the league in free-throw percentage. His No. 43 jersey was retired by the Seattle SuperSonics, and in 2019 he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
